Steps to become an RBT
- Meet the basic requirements: be at least 18 and hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Complete a background check.
- Complete the 40-hour RBT training.
- Pass the initial competency assessment with a qualified supervisor.
- Submit your application and pay the BACB fee.
- Pass the RBT exam at Pearson VUE.
Costs
The BACB application fee is $65 and the Pearson VUE exam fee is $45, for $110 in total. Employers or training providers may charge separately for the 40-hour course.
The exam
The exam has 85 multiple-choice questions (75 scored, 10 unscored) and a 90-minute limit. It follows the 3rd Edition Test Content Outline. See the outline explained and start with a full practice exam.
